Another great week in 4th grade last week.....
Math- Students will take their math test in 2 parts this week. They will take their first half on Monday and finish up the test on Tuesday morning. This is a long test, which is why we felt it was necessary to split it up. Please encourage you student to look over their study guide they brought home. If they can do those problems, they will do great on the assessment. Social Studies - Students finished up their Native American research and will be presenting their slideshows and tribe artifacts they created to the class. Thank you for allowing your students to bring in supplies to create those. I think you will be impressed by their creativity. These slideshows and artifacts will be on display at Open House. Writing - We will begin writing our personal narratives at the end of this week. We made timelines last week after reading the book, The Hundred Penny Box, and students will look back at their timeline for an idea for their story. Ask your students about the book, they seemed to really enjoy the thought behind it. We might even end up with a penny box in our classroom next week ;) Reading - We started reading groups last week and students were given a chapter book on their level. We have been focusing on reading is thinking strategies and ways we can visualize, predict, make connections and ask questions as we read to better understand what is happening in the story. Open House - I hope you can all make it out to Open House on Tuesday October 3 from 6-7PM. The book fair will be open and students will have their Native American work on display in the classroom. Upcoming Dates: Open House October 3 6-7PM Picture Day October 10 Fall Party October 20 - school dismissed at 12:30 Tiger Pride October 27 at 2:30
